Yes, with your phone. The S50 locks use Near-field Communication (NFC, the same thing that Apple Pay uses) to communicate with the locks. Your device is the key.
It might seem like an over-complicated way of opening a door, but there are some common problems the S50 system can solve.
A standard lock/key is only at it's most secure the moment it's fitted. As keys are distributed to users it becomes less and less secure. Keys can get lost, keys can get copied. Keys can fall into the wrong hands. The S50 system updates the lock with the latest access control list every time it's used.
The iLOQ app checks in with the server each time it's opened to make sure the list is up to date. Even if the device is in airplane mode or without signal, the security can remain uncompromised by enforcing rules that will only allow a lock to activate if the device has been in contact with the server within a set timeframe.
Smart phones aren't the only way either. The S50 range can also use traditional key fobs. Each scenario is different, and we can help you design a system that works for you.
Remote sites
If you have an estate with lots of remote sites the S50 is the perfect solution. So much time is wasted by staff and subcontractors collecting and dropping off keys. Or landlords having to drive out to properties to let engineers and tradespeople in.
Managing keys is a tedious business. If they get lost then security is compromised. Multiple properties with multiple locks means managing hundreds of keys.
Now you can grant access to a lock (either a door or a padlock) simply by setting up a new "key" and sending an SMS code. The iLOQ app is instantly downloaded and installed with the latest access list over the air.
Grant and revoke access on the fly
The centralised management console is the heart of the S50 system. It makes managing your users simple.
Do you have a property 80 miles away that needs a plumber? You can assign a key from your desk and send it straight to them. You can even specify that the key will only work from 10am to 2pm on the day that you've booked them in, if that's all the time they need. After that the virtual "key" becomes useless.
Fallen out with a subcontractor? Revoke access immediately and there's no way they can cause any malicious damage.
